The Black Robed Regiment was the name that the British placed on the courageous and patriotic American clergy during the Founding Era. In this message, Pastor Brandon teaches about the Black Robed Regiment from the pages of history, and highlights the most iconic figure associated with the regiment, Peter Muhlenberg. In Muhlenberg's most famous sermon, he turned to his congregation and said, “In the language of the holy writ, there was a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray, but those times have passed away.” As those assembled looked on, Muhlenberg declared, “There is a time to fight, and that time has now come!” He then proceeded to remove his robes revealing, to the shock of his congregation, a Continental Army military officer’s uniform. It is time for the Black Robed Regiment to arise once again in America! Listen to this message and be inspired.
